STEM4SDGs
STEM4SDGs is an initiative that aims to promote the use of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs are a set of 17 goals that were adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030.
Objectives
The STEM4SDGs initiative recognizes that STEM education is crucial in addressing the challenges posed by the SDGs, such as climate change, poverty, inequality, and the digital divide. By promoting STEM education, the initiative aims to empower young people with the skills and knowledge they need to contribute to sustainable development in their communities and beyond.
The STEM4SDGs initiative has several objectives. Firstly, it seeks to raise awareness about the importance of STEM education in achieving the SDGs. This involves engaging with policymakers, educators, and students to promote the integration of STEM education into curricula and policies.
Secondly, the initiative aims to develop and disseminate innovative teaching and learning resources that incorporate STEM concepts and the SDGs. This includes online courses, workshops, and educational materials that can be accessed by students and teachers worldwide.
Thirdly, STEM4SDGs seeks to promote collaboration between stakeholders in the STEM and development sectors. This involves bringing together educators, researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to share knowledge, expertise, and best practices in the use of STEM for sustainable development.
Finally, the initiative seeks to empower young people to become agents of change in their communities. This involves providing them with the tools and resources they need to develop innovative solutions to the challenges posed by the SDGs, such as poverty, inequality, and environmental degradation.
In conclusion, the STEM4SDGs initiative is a critical step towards harnessing the power of STEM education to achieve the SDGs. By promoting STEM education and empowering young people, the initiative can help to build a more sustainable and equitable future for all.
Products
We also develop STEM based Solutions on our own. We are currently working on a online platform to easy and make plastic waste collection in Lagos. After that we would work a clean energy solution for cooking. We lead by example as we encourage our young people to use STEM to solve problems we are doing so ourselves.
The programs are available for pupils, students, teachers and interested organization/individuals.
